Stoney Point

I have to update this blog before I go home for Thanksgiving because then I will hopelessly behind (if I'm not already). Sooo starting with the weekend before last:

I've been having a lot of "rest" weekends lately. Mostly fueled by my lack of motivation to surf waves in socal right now. There was a "decent" swell and I even skipped it. I suppose sleeping is good too though. I made it all the way through Friday and Saturday as "rest" days although we did run on Friday. The five fingers shoes are holding up pretty well. Its interesting to wonder during each run how my feet are going to handle it, or not. We even managed to run before it got dark since I had the day off. Sort of...minus going to the doctor to find out I may or may not have had an ear infection. Saturday was another rest day. Its weird sleeping a lot and doing errands instead of sprinting around at 100 miles an hour. My quilt is almost done...all I have left is the binding. Yeah I quilt and read when I'm not out doing some crazy outdoor activity. The LCPC also had a coffee themed performance that was fun to play...the flute part was more recorders and nose flutes than flute playing so we got to enjoy something different.
By Sunday I had to go outside, so Josh and I went to Stoney Point. We went to a fun V1 traverse (Spiral Traverse) first which I had worked on before:
At the end of the problem:
Meanwhile Josh sorta worked on the direct version:
Eventually we moved on to the Summit Boulder area after walking around so I could see a new area. Its an interesting place since its close to the city and definitely shows it. There is broken glass and graffiti everywhere, but its still a natural area underneath. The rocks were pretty amazing and the views were nice. A typical Stoney Point view:
I can image that the first people to climb out here had a beautiful climbing training ground. Now its a little different, although in the pic above you can't see most of the graffiti that seems to be everywhere. Josh spent some time on a problem called Ummagumma before we decided to give up for the day. Mostly because I was starting to realize the whole weekend had gone by and I didn't surf. Oops.On our way out, we saw some fellow climbers that we knew from the ARC working on a problem that gets harder and harder every year as the holds fall apart. After awhile, non-surfing depression started to set in so Josh and I left. Fortunately, I made it to church so I was able to take my mind of the fact the ocean is much too far from where I live and work. It even worked!
