Stoney Point climbing, El Porto surfing, and a packed weekend

The weekend before Easter was pretty busy...lots of stuff to fit in before flying home! Josh and I made it out to Stoney Point on Friday for some top rope climbing. Top roping is pretty common at Stoney Point, so we found some fun routes. I also got to rappel right in front of rush hour traffic. We worked on the Nutcracker wall which was nice...an easier route for me and a harder one for Josh.
We actually had a good time top roping for the afternoon, and working some harder moves that weren't immediately sendable.
The next day, we woke up early for the REI used gear sale. Its amazing the deals that are available there, but now I am spoiled and think shoes should cost $30 or less. For $50, I managed to get two pairs of five finger classics. The hope was one would fit Mom and one would fit Dad, but they ended up being for Dad and Derek instead. Josh had returned his Acopa climbing shoes when they started to delaminate, but he saw them at the used gear sale and couldn't resist buying them back for $5 (as opposed to $145 new). Good deals! I managed to get a surf in at El Porto later in the afternoon. Lots of duckdiving and okay waves were the story of the day, but it ended up being a fun session anyway.
Sunday was an orchestra performance day. We played at the morning service for 3.5 hours, and then did a concert for 3 more hours in the afternoon. Its amazing how quickly orchestra makes me improve my flute playing. In between, Josh and I fit in a run on Echo Mountain which was a good break and also good training. Although very hot. Southern California summer is starting...
